For over thirty years, company director Tony Illing has been in the agricultural seed industry and has developed a reputation for  quality seed, personal integrity, professional service which extends to the Queensland Agricultural Seed team.

After growing up on a sheep and cattle station in Western Queensland and attending school in Toowoomba, Tony was employed by Selected Seeds Pty Ltd at Pittsworth as a Pasture Advisor and a Grain Trader specialising in pulses and dahls. Over the next 15 years he provided farmers and graziers with agronomic advice and grain marketing options until becoming Manager of what was then the largest processing plant and trader of pulses and pasture seed in Queensland.

In 2004, Tony joined his father's company David Illing Pastures Pty Ltd to help continue to provide farmers, graziers and the resource industries with quality seed and agronomic advice. In July 2006, Tony and his wife Cheryl purchased the company and relocated the business to Toowoomba under the trading name of Illing Seeds.  Tony and wife Cheryl in 2018 then purchased Queensland Agricultural Seeds from Steve and Anne Tregea who started this business in 1987.  Queensland Agricultural Seeds specialises in Tropical & Sub-Tropical Species and Temperate Species (grasses, turf, legumes, forage/grain, legumes). Tony now has over 30 years experience in the seed and grain industries at both an international and domestic level and is a past president of the Tropical Grassland Society of Australia.

Director / ADMINISTRATION

Originally from the Riverina in South Western NSW and then the family farm in the South Burnett, Queensland, Cheryl has had a close association with agriculture over many years. Prior to purchasing Queensland Agricultural Seed, Cheryl held sales and administrative positions in the meat, livestock and seed industries.

Cheryl has developed an extensive knowledge of sub-tropical and tropical species with over 15 years specialising in the coastal region from the Northern Rivers, NSW to the coastal areas of Central Queensland. Prior to purchasing David Illing Pastures Pty Ltd, Cheryl was the Office Manager for an exporter business dealing in pastures, pulses and dahl’s. During this time, Cheryl gained valuable experience in the quality control and export documentation processes.

 

Andrew New

Andrew Ferguson

SALES AND LOGISTICS CO-ORDINATOR

Andrew grew up on a mixed farming property at The Gums, on the western downs. Following schooling in Toowoomba, his working life involved several jobs in the agricultural and earthmoving industries. In 1999 Andrew joined Selected Seeds Pty Ltd in Pittsworth as a trainee pasture and pulse advisor. This varied role involved liaising with and advising growers, consultants, government agencies and wholesalers across Queensland and New South Wales, sales and seed procurement being the focus.

After 11 years at Selected Seeds, Andrew and his family made the decision to embark on their own business journey. The family purchased a small rural store near Toowoomba. The business flourished and developed a solid reputation for quality products and exceptional customer service.  The desire to re-enter the pasture industry led Andrew to join the team at Queensland Agricultural Seeds in early 2019.

Andrew brings with him a wealth of knowledge around farming systems, tropical and sub-tropical pastures and forages.

John has worked with Queensland Agricultural Seeds since 2013.  Prior to this appointment, John held storeman positions in the seed and grain industry with other companies.  Same day dispatch of orders and great customer service is what John prides himself on.
